The specifics of the TaxWatch app privacy policy:
TaxWatch ("the App") provides analysis and reporting related to US states sales tax Economic Nexus status ("the Service") to merchants who use Shopify to power their stores. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store.
Personal Information the App Collects: When you install the App, we are automatically able to access certain types of information from your Shopify account: All Order and Shipping history, and your shop's main contact information (owner name, email, phone number, etc.).
Additionally, we make use of app usage tracking and analysis technology for purposes of improving the user experience and general analysis of interest in the app and its key features. No personally identifying information is used in this process.
How Do We Use Your Personal Information?
We use the personal information we collect from you and your customers in order to provide the Service and to operate the App. Your customer's information is used solely for calculating Economic Nexus Status for each US State and for optional tax reporting purposes. We do not acquire, store or make use of your customer's personally identifiable information at any point. We may use your (site owner) personal information to: communicate with you; optimize or improve the App; and provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.
Sharing Your Personal Information - With the possible extraordinary exception of sharing your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our legal rights, we do not share your personal information with any non-law-affiliated 3rd party for any reason.
Behavioural Advertising As described above - We use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (i.e. your TaxWatch app subscription), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.
Data Retention: When you make use of the TaxWatch app, we will maintain your subscription information for our legal and financial records so long as you remain our customer and for a period of 7 years thereafter, unless and until you explicitly ask us to delete this information. Please note that in cases where we are legally required to retain any information, we will inform you of such exceptions if your request information deletion.
Changes We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
